How to take care of your hair in Spring

Hello friends, they say transitional seasons no longer exist. Yet our bodies and minds are affected by the changes that take place in nature during the transition from one season to another. Skin and hair above all require special attention in this period. Let’s face one problem at a time, starting with how to take care of your hair in Spring.

How to take care of your hair in Spring – Beauty springs from the scalp

There are no cosmetics that can give us thick and shiny hair if our scalp is not healthy. Scalp balance can be affected by poor eating habits, stress and environmental changes typical of spring and autumn. Our scalp under stress can react in different ways: becoming oily, dry, irritated, itchy. Taking care of your hair in Spring means first of all taking care of your scalp:
1. massage in specific essential oils depending on the type of problem: tea tree to purify, rosemary to nourish, lavender to soothe. Scalp massage stimulates blood circulation and oxygenation of the hair follicles, thus reinforcing the hair at the root.
2. Apply specific soothing products. Sensinol Soothing Serum by Ducray soothes the irritated scalp. It must be sprayed every evening on the scalp, and lightly massaged. Without alcohol, fragrances, preservatives and dyes, it doesn’t make hair heavy and dries very quickly.
3. Use mild shampoos. Astera Sensitive Shampoo by Furterer is a high tolerability shampoo that uses 100% natural active ingredients to reinforce the natural defenses of the scalp decreasing responsiveness. With no silicones, parabens nor phenoxyethanol, the Astera Sensitive by Furterer line contains Asteracea extract, Echinacea and Hamamelis, plants known for their soothing properties. The user experience is extremely pleasant, with its sweet fragrance and creamy texture. Sensinol by Ducray Shampoo is a treating shampoo using Polidocanol (soothing active ingredient). Its formula devoid of fragrance, dyes and preservatives gently cleanses and protects hair weakened by external aggressions. The user experience can be disappointing for those who – like me – are used to dive in a cloud of fragrant foam. On the other hand the absence of foaming agents ensures its extreme delicacy without diminishing its washing capacity.

How to take care of your hair in Spring –  Hair lengths

Now that we have talked about treating your scalp in order to have healthy and strong hair from the root, we go to lengths. After personally testing its benefits, I suggest you get a restructuring treatment in the salon. I reviewed Pro-Fiber Treatment by L’Oréal in this post on Glamour and Keratin Therapy by Jean Louis David in this post on Coco et La vie en rose. The treatment continues at home using specific products for your hair type. For my bleached hair I chose Okara line by Furterer, with natural extract of Okara – a plant active ingredient holding a great affinity with the keratin protein, and Honey, with illuminating properties. Okara Active Light Mask by Furterer is a mask activator of brightness, nourishing and restructuring. Okara Active Light spray by Furterer is the leave-in version of the activator of light mask. They are both high-performance products, even though between the two I prefer the no-rinse spray, which has a fruity fragrance, more delicate and sweet compared to the mask.
