The importance of sunscreen: why you should protect your skin from Sun rays, what are the best products on market and how to use them. Summer is upon us and, like it or not, we are going to expose our skin to the sun, even to its most powerful rays! Let us see why it is important to protect it and how best to do it!
What experts say about the importance of sunscreen
The sun rays responsible of skin aging and potentially harmful are UVA and UVB rays. They cause in time a rapid aging of the skin, with damage to the collagen, which results in deep and diffuse wrinkles, loss of elasticity, dry and rough skin, presence of dilated capillaries on the cheeks, nose and ears, sun spots, desquamation, actinic keratosis, up to skin cancer. Before exposing your skin to the sun it is paramount you are aware of the importance of sunscreen and apply a good photoprotector which, as such, must have the following characteristics: High tolerability index to protect skin from any stress; photostability which makes sunscreens also able to withstand a prolonged exposure; ability to form a uniform layer on the epidermis, to guarantee water and sweat resistance; absence of toxic anti-free radical agents; presence of soothing substances ; good breathability to not cause erythemas by occlusion of the pores.
The importance of sunscreen – How to apply it
When we evaluate the sun protection factor, we must consider that this factor is valid provided we do not skimp on the amount of used product. Recent studies show that the amount of product applied by the consumer only corresponds to the 40% of that expected according to study protocols: this means that the real protection factor corresponds to a value lower than the theoretical one represented on the packaging. Moreover, it would be good to remember to reapply the product every 3 hours.

io ho sempre usato le creme di Avène fattore 50 perchè le trovo favolose…io appartengo alla categoria di quelle che preferiscono una pelle sana a una pelle bruciata e non protetta. Mi tengo il mio pallore ma almeno cerco di evitare l’invecchiamento della pelle!

Avene is a great product, however is a bit thick. I do prefer shiseido is lighter and great for oily skin.
