Naturally beautiful – Shea butter

Naturally beautiful – Shea butter

Hello my lovelies,

here continues my series of posts focusing on ancient botanical-based elixirs used by women of different countries before cosmetology was born.
Shea butter is an ivory-colored fat extracted from the nut of the African shea tree. Also known by its French name “karité”, it can boast a plethora of benefic effects on our skin.
As I’ve been holding it as an essential of my beauty routine for over ten years, I am a huge proponent of this 100% organic beauty elixir.
Applied at night in the eye- and lips- contour area, it improves skin elasticity and ensures powerful hydration without the slightest risk of allergies.
It has healing properties on small burns and works awesomely on skin cracking due to cold or dryness.
When I feel my face needs a special treat after a tiresome day, I warm a tiny bit of butter in my hands rubbing them energetically, then add drop of essential oil of lavender or sweet orange, and gently place my hands on my face and closed eyes, breathing deeply and inhaling well-being.
Many cosmetics list shea butter under their components, but in order to take full advantage of its natural properties, make sure they contain A or B category karité, otherwise you might be disappointed!

Yes, I always see this listed in lotions and creams but never really knew the benefits. I also didn't know if it was just one of those fads that everyone makes a big deal about and then shortly after realize it doesn't really do much. Glad to know there are real benefits!

xoxo,

Jules of Canines & Couture
