My darling beauties,
please sit back, a cool drink in your hands, and be prepared to hear the fascinating story behind emerging jewelry brand Jolita.
As you may know, during Victorian era macabre imagery became very popular, a form of artistic expression if you think that human hair was braided to create the most intricate jewellery to remember those had passed away. Inspired by Victorian “Memento Mori” era, most of Jolita Jewellery’s pieces are made of silk braids and adorned with an array of components: crystals, pearls, skulls, chains, cameos and other multimedia, to create lavish statement pieces. What I find impressive is that silk is hand-dyed in Jolita’s London-based studio, with colours produced in-house by mixing high-quality pigments, in order to create an exclusive colour palette inspired by the most beautiful flowers. Unusual crystal compositions are then meticulously hand-stitched to the braid, to produce one-of-a-kind artworks.
As drawn as I am by hand-crafts and originality, a plus which true fashion lovers desperately seek in a realm of growing copycats, I can’t help but being charmed by this brother-and-sister team: Algis, creative genius and self-taught artisan, and Jolita, sales and pr manager. Art, mystery, brain-storming inspiration, industrious hands, and tons of sparkle.
