Dear Priya, first of all thank you for sharing your amazing visual boards with the lovely readers of Coco et La vie en Rose fashion blog during the past fashion weeks. For those of my lovelies who missed them, have a look here.
In a fashion industry where brands need to be ahead not to fall behind, a fashion trend researcher like yourself plays a key role. What does a fashion trend researcher exactly do?
P.C. – Research cannot be summarised in a few words but I will try my best to answer. A fashion trend researcher must predict the unpredictable, in order to be always ahead of the market. There are Macro Research Areas, as Fashion Research is wide. Fashion trends, color forecast, fabrics, textures, prints and graphics, fashion week analysis, silhouette details, accessories, footwear, celebrity style, street style, trade shows, brands, beauty and hairstyle. Not to miss people views. You need to explore, invent and create.
Priya, as a fashion trend researcher can you anticipate where fashion trends will lead like in SS 2017?
P.C. – I love spring season. SS 2017 will be inspired by fine arts and feature a perfect blend of eg. Japanese influence, florals, Boho style, abstract figures, modernism. Silhouettes, color palettes, textures and details will be dainty and feminine. More specifically, there will be a splash of colors. Monochromes will play a key role. The leading colors will range from blue, to lemon yellow, pistachio, watermelon pink, gold, peach, turquoise, saffron, blueberry, blush pink, cerulean, forest green, ochre yellow and not to miss black and white.
What about Fall Winter 2017? Can you name a few strong fashion trends?
P.C. – Winter 2017 will be reflection. Reflection of our thoughts, ideas, vision, our day-to-day activity, music. Attaching one of my most exclusive inspirational board which I have not even posted on my page yet. Based on extensive research, Winter will be full of innovation , rich fabrics and textiles. Art and design will influence highly. It will be kind of a musical fashion journey. Detailing will be one of its kinds. Winter rejuvenation. Color palette: Burnt Sienna, Olive, Charcoal grey, Emerald green, Chocolate brown, Red velvet, light grey, Midnight blue.
Besides being a fashion trend researcher, you are also a photographer and a fashion designer yourself. What comes next?
P.C. – LOL this one is difficult! As a fashion trend researcher and designer I am learning every part of fashion industry and what I have missed to do is modelling… maybe that’ll come next! On a serious note I love doing research and in fact love more to share my inspiration and innovation with the world. Everyone is an artist, we just need to find out what we love doing most and you will see the unbelievable results. Apart from my job as a Fashion Trend Researcher I love posting inspirational mood boards on fashion, art, design, textile, interior, sports, knits, festive, color & prints. Nature is my highest source of inspiration here.
