Timeless icons – Marilyn Monroe

Hello dears,

I thought the second post of this “Timeless Icons” series should feature another amazing artist: in stark contrast to Audrey’s delicate figure, with her bursting charm and sexy curves, though so much similar to Holly Golightly’s character, with her frail soul and her fathomless need for love.
Enjoy, with love Coco

She was..
an American actress, model, and singer starring in a number of commercially successful motion pictures during the 1950s and early 1960s

Favourite quotes

“There was my name up in lights. I said, ‘God, somebody’s made a mistake.’ But there it was, in lights. And I sat there and said, ‘Remember, you’re not a star.’ Yet there it was up in lights.”

“The body is meant to be seen, not all covered up.”

“What do I wear in bed? Why, Chanel No. 5, of course.”

“I’m very definitely a woman and I enjoy it.”

“I don’t want to make money, I just want to be wonderful.”

“It’s all make believe, isn’t it?”

“It’s not true I had nothing on, I had the radio on.”

“A career is wonderful, but you can’t curl up with it on a cold night.”

“I don’t know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot.”

Distinguishing features:  seductive, dazzling charming, consciously playing the dumb blonde persona

Key Items: halter neck dresses, pencil skirts with matching sweaters, bows, polka dot prints, a white fur wrap, strapless or sweetheart neckline dresses

Favourite Designers: Marilyn’s favorite store was Bloomingdale’s and her preferred shoe designer was Salvatore Ferragamo

Beauty products: five coats of Guerlain Rouge Diabolique to get her trademark lip colour, Vaseline and Nivea Moisturiser to soften her skin, Chanel No 5 eau de parfum.

Marilyn Monroe was AWESOME! I didn't know who her favorite designers and shopping places were! So thank you Coco for including that information. I loved her in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". She and Jane Russell were HILARIOUS in that movie. Marilyn was such a style icon and it was refreshing because she was not rail thin like some actresses today. Excellent post Coco! Have a great
